Lewis, Garden Villas and MacGregor elementary schools were three of the five HISD schools to be selected as a regional winners of the Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet Science Project. Last week, Cool Globes Education Sponsor H-E-B presented each of the science classes with $1,000 to be used to implement the fifth grade classes’ environmental projects.

Each of the regional winners showcased their class project, which included a paper mache globe featuring winning solutions for global warming, a student journal, and letter to Mayor Bill White, to compete for recognition as the District winner.

MacGregor Elementary was chosen as the district winner, and received an additional check for $10,000.
