    HPD officer struck by flying tire on Gulf Fwy

    A Houston Police Department officer was struck by a loose Tuesday afternoon while he writing out a ticket. The officer suffered a number of injuries, including a broken arm, but was in stable condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

    The body of man was found this morning after he had apparently shot himself to death while he sat in his pickup truck at an apartment complex in southeast Houston. The man was found around 8 a.m. on the 8400 block of Stone Street.

    Union Pacific and E.O. Smith Education Center teamed up on May 24 to promote train track safety and teach students how to properly cross the tracks. Students who correctly crossed the tracks were rewarded with $10 movie passes.
