Branden Griffin, a Texas Southern University student, has been named a Diversity Scholarship Fellow by the New York Life Foundation and the Washington Center. Griffin has spent his summer in Washington D.C. working at the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority.

Chronicle reporter Jeannie Kever talked with Jacob Tadesse, a graduate of Yates High School, who was set to graduate last week from Texas A&M University. Tadesse talked about his years at the school and how his time there changed him.

Middle school students on summer vacation built rafts with Bernard Harris, the first African-American astronaut to walk in space, as part of an experiment at the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp. The two-week camp was hosted by the University of Houston.
