Residents in southeast Houston can learn about what the city of Houston has in mind in the future at the District E capital improvement meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25 at Dobie High. The meeting is hosted by Councilman Mike Sullivan.

Aaron Taylor threw for 361 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Jones Falcons to a 41-22 win over Sharpstown Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Class 4A Division II football playoffs. Jones moves on to face Angleton, a winner over Rosenberg Terry on Saturday.

But, there was a playoff atmosphere as the two teams battled to a 21-21 tie until the last second of the game, when Westside won it on a field goal. If you're planning to take I-10 into our past downtown this weekend, think again. The eastbound lanes of the freeway between I-45 and U.S. 59 are going to be closed from 9 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Jones High quarterback Aaron Taylor threw for 222 yards and four touchdowns, rushed for 92 yards and a late-game interception on defense as his team defeated Washington, 35-28. The win clinched a share of the District 22-4A title.
