    Two people died early this morning when the apartment they lived in on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard caught on fire. One of the victims was a 17-year-old who used a wheelchair.

    The Houston Police Department identified the man killed in a Sunday apartment complex shooting as Eric Pink, 24. Pink was killed at the Park Texas apartments, 11911 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

    The man suspected of striking and killing a 20-year-old woman with his car while she tried to cross Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard last Friday night already has two intoxicated driving convictions on his record.

    According to a story by Dale Lezon, police are investigating why a man was severely beaten early this morning at bar in southeast Houston. The attack occurred at the bar in the 8300 block of La Porte about 2 a.m., police said.

    Middle school students on summer vacation built rafts with Bernard Harris, the first African-American astronaut to walk in space, as part of an experiment at the ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Summer Science Camp. The two-week camp was hosted by the University of Houston.

    According to a report by KHOU, police are investigating the death of woman found at the bottom of a staircase while her boyfriend slept upstairs. Police said there was no sign of trauma but are questioning the boyfriend.
