From an HCC press release:
BizConnect and Houston Community College Southeast have joined forces to create the Small Business Initiative to enhance career opportunities and stimulate the local economy. Designed for people who dream of owning their own business or who are already in business; this initiative teaches you what you need to know to establish your business or take it to the next level.
By taking two specially designed courses, BUSG 1373, Small Business Management, and BUSG 1373, Business and Entrepreneurship, students will learn about business ownership, financing the new adventure, marketing, creating a financial plan and managing your cash flow, and actually writing a business plan. The instructors for these courses come from the business world with the “been there, done that” experience needed to skillfully guide and advise young entrepreneurs.
Additionally, Southeast College is offering two workshops to jump start new careers. The Small Business Administration’s SCORE volunteers will be at the college Saturday, January 26 to give a one day seminar. Lunch will be provided.
Tuesday, February 16, the Constant Contact Company will host a one day seminar entitled: The Power of Email Marketing for Small Business Owners & Entrepreneurs. Students will explore the basics of what email marketing is, why it works so well, and how to use it in business planning and strategizing to achieve specific goals.
