    From a press release:

The Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 500 Clay St., Houston's most historic church located in the heart of Freedmen's Town, will celebrate, beginning at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 21, 144 years of survival and community enrichment since it was first built by freed slaves in 1866.

Antioch's senior pastor, the Rev. O.B. Winkley, Jr., welcomes the anniversary's guest speaker Pastor F.D. Sampson of Houston's Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

Past and present church members and their families have a special invitation to come home to Antioch and continue the church's 144-year-old message of hope and freedom. The public is welcome and parking is available.

For more information, call Antioch at (713) 652-0738 or visit its web site, www.Antiochdowntown.org.
