Police are searching for a suspect after a teenager was killed in a shooting at an apartment complex in south Houston late Thursday night after he visited his girlfriend.DeAndre Elliott, 17, of Houston, was killed in the 4700 block of Wenda about 11:45 p.m., police said.

HISD has announced that six of its schools will be giving free H1N1 vaccinations this Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The vaccinations will be given out in a first come, first serve basis. Four of the six schools are in the East End/Third Ward area.

The rejuvenated Yates debate team is on a roll, as they won again at the second Houston Urban Debate League tournament. Christopher Flix and Matthew Ealy defeated the team from Reagan High School to take the varsity division of the tournament.

The Young Artist Apprenticeship Program organized by Blaffer Gallery, the Art Museum of the University of Houston, earned national endorsement by winning a Coming Up Taller award from the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.

Police are looking for two suspects who apparently beat and fatally shot a man over a debt. The shooting occurred in the 7500 block of Office City about 9 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Aaron Taylor threw for 361 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Jones Falcons to a 41-22 win over Sharpstown Saturday afternoon in the first round of the Class 4A Division II football playoffs. Jones moves on to face Angleton, a winner over Rosenberg Terry on Saturday.
